The last two years have been among the most adventurous and exciting in my 24+ years of teaching. I have had the opportunity to test the use of AI tools in my Data Analytics classes and promote AI literacy on campus, including co-founding the UIS AI Campus Learning Community as part of this effort. One of the most rewarding experiences has involved student projects with generative AI. In this presentation, I will share my experiences, the challenges I faced, and the opportunities I encountered. I will also discuss: 1) The foundations of AI 2) Practical ways and tools for educators to learn about using AI in teaching 3) How educators can help students use AI safely and effectively 44) Career pathways for students in the age of AI.
